About the Division
- International cooperation is a keystone of progress in an interconnected world. The International Cooperation Division promotes collaboration through bilateral partnerships and multilateral engagements, fostering the exchange of knowledge, trust, and expertise.
- By working with international partners and global institutions, the Division supports national priorities while addressing shared challenges and collaborating towards fisheries management, climate change, sustainability, technology transfer, world class infrastructure, trade and R&D. Our efforts strengthen cooperation, align with international standards, and contribute to sustainable and inclusive development.
- It also works towards taking into account interest of related stakeholders, needful cooperation and collaborations towards comparative advantage and sustainable future of ocean and seas and overall wellbeing of people dependent on it.
- The International Cooperation in the Department of Fisheries deals with matters pertaining to taking up MoUs with potential countries for cooperation in fisheries, finalization/negotiations of agreements/treaties in fisheries, technical cooperation with international institutions and potential countries, cooperation on need based intervention for holistic development of fisheries, diplomatic relations in fisheries, promoting R&D and capacity building, matters related to WTO, RFMOs like IOTC, international programmes like BOBP-IGO.
- Currently the desk also handles recent interventions like fisheries related engagement in G20 under the Brazilian Presidency and Indian Presidency, GloLitter towards combatting marine litters.

AREAS OF ACTIVITIES (IC-Technical)
1. Signing of MoUs with various potential Countries in the field of fisheries and Aquaculture.
2. Relevant steps for convening of various JWG meeting with the partner Countries under the provision of MoU.
3. Key intervention in the area of technology transfer and other need based facilitation through International Organisation and partner Countries.
4. Taking up potential technical cooperation with various International Organisation for implementing various States/UTs.
5. Facilitating participation of Indian delegation in various International meets, Workshops, Summits, bilateral dialogues, Expos, highlighting Indian Fisheries potential and Institute.
6. Facilitating capacity building of officials engaged in fisheries in various International workshop enabling knowledge sharing and skill development.
7. Support the International Organisation like BOBP-IGO, IOTC.
8. Set up policies in the G20, BIMSTEC, BRICS and other intergovernmental forum.
9. Promote Indian fish products globally by engagement of various stakeholders
AREAS OF ACTIVITIES (IC-Admin)
1. Examination and Processing of nominations for official foreign visits of dignitaries in the Department and attached/subordinate offices connected in line with foreign visit guidelines and financial angle. Issuance of respective orders in this regard.
2. Processing air-fare bills for payments in respect of visits abroad of dignitaries/officials.
3. Processing necessary clearance from MEA/MHA to facilitate dignitaries/officials.
