First meeting of Joint Technical Committee (JTC) was held in Jakarta on 6th - 7thDecember, 2012. MoU expired in November, 2015. DADF conveyed its concurrence for renewal to MEA in early November, 2016. Indonesian side suggested signing of a new MoU. The DADF, however, in a communication sent to MEA in May/June 2018 proposed extension/renewal of the old MoU instead of signing of new MoU as the areas of cooperation mentioned in the Indonesian text of new draft MoU are the same as in the last expired MoU. |

A Joint Technical Committee from the Indian side to provide guidance, review the progress of activities and to facilitate cooperation under the MoU is to be constituted. Director, CIFA, Bhubaneswar has been nominated as nodal officer for implementation of the activities covered in the MoU An exposure visit for Indian Officials and Farmers is proposed for which nomination has been sought by NFDB. No formal meeting in the framework of MoU has been held. |

Soon after signing of the MoU, in order to take follow up action to operationalize the MoU, the concerned agencies were consulted to identify the specific areas within the scope of Paragraph 1 of the MoU and the following areas were prioritised for cooperation from Iceland: 1. Deep Sea fishing. 2.Quarantine management and value addition. 3. Capacity building in the above two areas. MEA was requested in July, 2012 to take up the matter with the Iceland side for extension of MoU beyond 2012. MEA in August, 2017 have requested this Department for a new draft MoU as the MoU signed earlier does not have extension clause. A new Draft MoU has been prepared and circulated to other Departments concerned for inter-ministerial consultation. |
